The final match of the Supply Chain Challenge was played in Modena

The first place in this third edition goes to the University of Brescia

On 17 September Makeitalia elected the winners of the third edition of the National Supply Chain Championship at the Modena Golf & Country Club. Final event sponsored by the Regione Emilia Romagna, Comune di Modena and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro. The initiative’s partner companies were also present: Ferrari, Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna and DSV – Global Transport and Logistics.

Supply Chain Challenge: what is it?

The Supply Chain Challenge is the National Supply Chain Championship organized by Makeitalia and which saw, in this third edition, the participation of 21 Italian Universities. Around 1,200 Management Engineering master’s students. Growing numbers compared to previous editions.

Born with the aim of giving voice to the best talents and creating new professional opportunities in the Supply Chain sector, the final phase of the competition was played on 17 September 2024 at the Modena Golf & Country Club.

The final event was the conclusion of a qualifying period which was held from November 2023 to June 2024. 8 months of competitions between 21 Italian Universities: Parma, Firenze, Napoli Parthenope, Napoli Federico II, Bergamo, Padova, Cassino e Lazio Meridionale, Roma Tor Vergata, Roma Sapienza, Calabria (Cosenza), Palermo, Trento, Siena, Brescia, Pisa, Bologna, Modena e Reggio Emilia, Polytechnics of Bari, Milano, Torino, Marche. Around 1,200 students were involved in a competition which aimed to test themselves with the management of a “real” supply chain, through a training and simulation tool developed by Makeitalia, the Supply Chain Game.

The podium

The 72 finalist students competed one last time on September 17th. At the final whistle of the Competition, the Management of Makeitalia and the President Consiglio Comunale di Modena Antonio Carpentieri awarded the winners of this third edition: the team from the University of Brescia, made up of Aurora Saleri and Davide Salandini. On the podium, in second place: the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia, with students Matteo Pio Pienabarca, Davide Dall’Olio and Matteo Musella. At the third place the team from the Polytechnic of Torino, composed by Francesco Zenobi, Sara Nizzo, Antonino Allegro and Emanuela Nasello.

Partner companies

The day of September 17th was also a unique opportunity for the students to engage with the world of job, thanks to the presence of international companies, partners of the initiative: Ferrari, Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna and DSV – Global Transport and Logistics . Companies that shared the principles on which the Supply Chain Challenge is based – merit, excellence, innovation – and that actively participated in the Finals, presenting their core business and providing the finalists with the opportunity to meet and compare with their Supply Chain Manager, through interactive and practical workshops.

 

The fourth edition of the Supply Chain Challenge will begin in October 2024!
